Where Are Sand Traps Used?

As the focus on water conservation grows, due care is taken to plan the installation of the appropriate infrastructure to ensure the safety of the public and to maximize efficiency in water management systems. Among the various installations which are made in such a drainage system, sand traps are an important mechanism. A sand trap is a surface or sub-surface installation, which is used to filter out the sand, gravel and other particle matter to prevent their discharge into the main drains. Typically, sand traps are made from plastic or concrete and are installed slightly below the main pavement or road surface to enable the flow of the water at an incline and retain the sand while the filtered water can be discharged into the drain.
